When we are depleted through our emotions, we can become confused and anxious, and unable to make decisions. When we are physically depleted, our body may be exhausted from the tasks that are in front of us on a daily basis.
Find gratitude in three layers.
1. Say one thing you are grateful for about the earth.
2. Say one thing you are grateful for about another person.
3. Say one thing you are grateful for about yourself. You can take turns and you can also say more than one thing. If you have someone to say this out loud with it is powerful to share. Hold eye contact while you repeat these statements, “I am grateful for_______________”. Notice how you feel when you make these statements. Notice where you feel the feelings in your body. Is it your belly, solar plexus, heart, head or throat? You may even wish to place your hand on the area you are feeling.
Consider releasing that which no longer serves you. These may be outmoded ways of thinking, repetitive habits that under mine success or peacefulness, addictive negative thought patterns, holding on to people or situations that have long since been part of our lives.
Restoring our emotions, spiritual self and our body and mind also occur through meditation practices. However beyond this is to join with others who are seeking to re-align their energy by daily uplifting readings and practices that fill their beings. Take a pilgrimage to a special place. Connect with people you spiritually admire by attending an activity or having a private session.
Listening to sacred music from your tradition that inspires you is also important. Music is a potent form that connects us on an emotional level to change within our all systems of our body through respiration, heart rate and brain waves. This may involve a trip into nature, finding the sacred place that is within and without. Sometimes this is a pilgrimage to a special place which can be a re-commitment to that which fills your spirit. Find some running water to sit next to that is peaceful, go to the ocean where you can hear, smell, see, sense the waves, and movement. Others connect to the wind and its movement through the trees and pines in mountainous areas. Lie upon the ground face down and/or face up. Allow yourself to take in the energy of the earth as it restores you. Spend a night under the stars where the moonlight and starlight bathes your body. Take in the sounds of the quiet. Dream in a new place that feels safe, pristine and gentle. This restores our body, mind, emotions and spirit. Schedule your sacred time so you can look forward to it. This will help you know you are taking care of your self.
